Droit Au Logement (Right to Housing), union of badly housed, homeless and tenants in France shares its sadness, solidarity and indignation after the murderous fire that has claimed more than 17 victims.
Sadness because the death toll is tragic, and once again the modest tenants are the first victims in this fire,
Solidarity since the survivors of fatal fires in France have always had to fight to obtain a decent rehousing, a fair trial and fair compensation,
Indignation because the tenants of this building of social housing had warned the authorities in vain of the dangers of a fire, following a renovation of the facade cheaply and using flammable materials.
Right to housing demands justice and truth about this fire, a fair trial, and the rehousing of all the victims.
A decent home is a right !
